About NEBCR

The N.E.B. Crop Research Centre at G.B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar generates modern production technologies of field crops. The centre was established in the year 1962-63 to cater the need of various research projects of plant Breeding, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Soil Science, Plant Physiology, Molecular Biology, Water Management etc. in the field of different crops.

Mandate:
  • To facilitate proper and timely conduct of research of various multi-disciplinary projects funded by outside agencies and university.
  • To provide timely facilities for the conduct of Master’s and Ph.D. Research of different disciplines in Rabi as well as Kharif season.
  • Production of high-quality nucleus, breeder and foundation seed of field crops.
  • Conduct of demonstrations of various technologies for farmers, researchers, students, extension workers and other visitors.

Infrastructure: Paliwal Field Laboratory accommodates seed testing lab., sugar lab., Stores of field supplies, workshop store and post-harvest laboratories of various research projects. Centre is having well equipped workshop and tractor shed and different kinds of field implements (harrows, rotavators, plough, land leveller, seed drills, threshers, power sprayers, and precision seed drills etc.), Seed Processing plant for breeder and nucleus seed; well-equipped observatory for weather report.

Salient accomplishment:
  • The centre comprises about 138 hectares of lands in which 102 hectares have been allotted for conducting research experiments under different projects, whereas, 36 hectares land have been utilised for seed production programme of different crops.
  • The centre is involved in development of various technologies viz., package of practices for various crops, organic farming and bio-control measures for use in modern agriculture.
  • 1500 litre capacity power sprayer procured for timely and efficient spray in big fields.Centre provides timely facilities to more than 100 AICRP and other externally funded projects.
  • Sprinkler system for increasing the efficiency of irrigation water.
